Visit Trinidad.
We’ve made the transition to a digital “museum without walls”, so the museum lives online. We currently have no physical space to visit, but the railroad history it tells happened here, in a coal-fired junction town at the foot of Raton Pass. If you want to experience it in the actual place, here is how to reach Trinidad and where to find more of what the town offers.
Getting to Trinidad
By train
Amtrak’s Southwest Chief stops at the Trinidad station at 110 W. Pine Street once a day in each direction. The #4 westbound toward Raton, the Santa Fe area, and Albuquerque stops in Trinidad around 8am. The #3 eastbound toward La Junta, Lamar, and Kansas City stops in Trinidad around 5pm. The Amtrak platform is a short walk from the historic downtown core. Schedules shift seasonally, so check Amtrak.com (opens in a new tab) for live times and ticketing.
By car
Get directions to Trinidad Trinidad sits at the south end of Colorado on Interstate 25, just below Raton Pass at the New Mexico line. It is roughly three hours south of Denver and about 30 minutes north of Raton. US‑50 brings you in from Kansas through La Junta; US‑87 connects up from the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles. Historic downtown is a few blocks east of the I‑25 exits.
